Magento extensions every retailer needs right now

[Guest post by Jodie Pride from Veeqo]

As a sales platform, Magento does not come ready-made: you have to jazz your store up with plenty of extensions to create a truly spectacular customer experience. This is a blessing and a curse as you can personalise your store in every possible way, but there is such an abundance of extensions available, ranging from the truly basic to the incredibly complex, it can be difficult to decide which ones you really need. So to help narrow things down, we’ve put together a list of the essential Magento extensions every retailer needs right now.

Olark is a live chat service which allows ecommerce retailers to communicate instantly with their customers. You can use Olark to answer customer questions immediately, keep them browsing your Magento store and save the sale.

The interesting thing about Olark is that you can see every customer browsing your store, what they are looking at, and what’s in their cart, and also get notified in real-time when customers look at big ticket items, when you get a repeat customer, or when customers add and remove items from their shopping cart.

Veeqo is a handy multifunctional extension which you can use not just for Magento stock management, but also for shipping, purchase orders, supplier management and for order management. Veeqo boasts integrations with Royal  Mail, FedEx, and a variety of other courier options, and works with both a Magento Amazon integration and a Magento eBay integration, as well as connecting Magento with your other webstores so that your inventories are synced across these channels. You’ll never have to worry about over-selling again!

We’ve all heard of WordPress and probably dabbled in using it a few times, but chances are, if you’re reading this you probably didn’t go with the WooCommerce platform. Don’t worry though, this plugin by Fishpig allows you to integrate WordPress right into your Magento base.

If you’re more experienced with WordPress, you might have heard of the Yoast SEO extension, which is very popular with good reason. The good news is that Magento’s WordPress integration extension allows you to utilize Yoast, so you know you’re going to get a solid SEO strategy here. The extension also supports a large selection of other WordPress plugins for free and others with add-on extensions.

The extension is compatible with Magento Enterprise, Magento Professional and Magento Community Edition and is free to use and easy to install via Magento Connect, and requires no core Magento or WordPress file modification. You can also use your Magento theme for your WordPress blog and integrate an existing WordPress blog while still keeping the same URL’s. 1-Click login to your WordPress Admin from your Magento Admin is also available and is pretty cool as it saves you time.

One Page Checkout

We all know that customers get frustrated with a seemingly endless checkout process, bt you can reduce the risk of cart abandonment with One Page Checkout. This Magento extension reduces the steps required for the checkout process so that (you guessed it) it’s all on one page.  Decreasing the checkout process is one of the key factors to increasing your conversion rate – less steps means that your customers will more likely complete the full checkout process, so retailers want to make sure that their checkout process is as smooth as possible.

Reviews are an important factor in turning browsers into buyers. Very few people buy products these days without checking out the reviews beforehand, so it’s a good idea to ensure that your product pages are not lacking in feedback. Yotpo is a review enhancing extension for helping you generate more reviews for your products. Use it to share customer reviews on social media (and let your customers do likewise), automatically email customers post-purchase to request reviews, and respond to the reviews on your website.

Schema adds meta data to your product page so that your search engine listings are more advanced –  information such as product name, description, price, stock status, ratings and non-cached image path will all be added to the information on every product page of your e-commerce store. It’s compatible with Google, Bing and Yahoo.

Of course Magento has tons of other extensions to play around with, but you’ll find that with these 7 extensions in your artillery, you should have all your bases covered for a smooth and satisfying customer experience.

Bronto is a lifecycle marketing manager which allows you to create campaigns that convert one-time buyers into repeat customers. This extension helps Magento customers drive more sales faster by creating highly targeted lifecycle marketing campaigns that convert one-time buyers into repeat customers and motivate them to buy more. Bronto’s features include product recommendations, abandoned cart reminders, wish list reminders, post-purchase review requests, care notifications, reorder Reminders and more.

Cart abandonment has a significant impact on your eCommerce business – every time a customer leaves your site after adding to their shopping cart, you’re effectively leaving their money on the table. Bronto persuades customers who have abandoned their cart to come back and complete their purchase, which in turn helps you increase your final sales.

  1. Schema .org very often doesn’t work for Magento stores. I have seen many times that stores with schema .org microformat have no star ratings at all. On the other hand, mucroformat based on data-vacabulaty is always working.

There many free Rich Snippets extensions because they don’t work properly.

One of the really working extensions is cane out recently:
Magento Rich Snipet produced by Mageworx.
It costs 79$ but it is worth this money.
